About Inheritance

Hi, and welcome to Inheritance Leatherworks!  My work combines the richness of top quality leather with the beauty of natural forms.  I source my leather from Wickett & Craig, a heritage American tannery.  They split and soften the leather to my specifications, meaning that from the very earliest stage of production, my journals are made with attention to quality.

I dye each piece individually with an airbrush, using colors that I mix myself.  Because of this, no two journals are exactly the same, and you will not find these exact colors anywhere else.  The engravings come from antique or vintage sources, mostly books of embroidery patterns, and some are my own original drawings.  The floral designs with multiple colors are hand-dyed.

My journals are designed to become old friends, and to make the moment of writing special.  I want you to savor the aroma and softness of the leather, the snap of the solid brass hardware, and the spark of joy that you feel when you take up a beautiful, unique piece of art.  Because they are made to last, they are refillable with standard size notebooks so that they may be enjoyed for years to come.  Alternatively, you can build a collection, encasing your precious thoughts and memories in a vessel that reflects their value.  Enjoy your meander through my site, and visit me on Instagram or at art fairs and festivals across the Southeast.
